Terms of Service
1. Introduction & Acceptance
Welcome to Sera! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Sera Discord bot ("Bot", "Service"), operated by BotSource ("we", "us", "our"). By adding or using the Bot in your Discord server, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you disagree with any part of the terms, you may not use the Service.
2. Use License
Permission is granted to temporarily use the Bot on your Discord server for personal, non-commercial transitory viewing only. This is the grant of a license, not a transfer of title, and under this license, you may not:
- Modify or copy the Bot's source code (unless explicitly permitted by an open-source license).
- Use the Bot for any commercial purpose, or for any public display (commercial or non-commercial) without explicit permission.
- Attempt to decompile or reverse engineer any software contained within the Bot.
- Remove any copyright or other proprietary notations from the Bot.
- Transfer the Bot to another person or "mirror" the Bot on any other server.
- Use the bot in any way that violates Discord's Terms of Service or Community Guidelines.
- Use the bot to harass, abuse, or harm another person or group.
This license shall automatically terminate if you violate any of these restrictions and may be terminated by us at any time.
3. Disclaimer
The Bot is provided on an 'as is' basis. We make no warranties, expressed or implied, and hereby disclaim and negate all other warranties including, without limitation, implied warranties or conditions of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement of intellectual property or other violation of rights.
Further, we do not warrant or make any representations concerning the accuracy, likely results, or reliability of the use of the Bot or otherwise relating to such materials or on any sites linked to this service.
4. Limitations
In no event shall we or our suppliers be liable for any damages (including, without limitation, damages for loss of data or profit, or due to business interruption) arising out of the use or inability to use the Bot, even if we or an authorized representative has been notified orally or in writing of the possibility of such damage.
5. Revisions and Errata
The materials appearing within the Bot could include technical, typographical, or photographic errors. We do not warrant that any of the materials are accurate, complete, or current. We may make changes to the materials contained within the Bot at any time without notice. We do not, however, make any commitment to update the materials.
6. Governing Law
Any claim relating to the Bot shall be governed by the laws of [Your Jurisdiction - e.g., Your State/Country] without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
7. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to modify or replace these Terms at any time. If a revision is material, we will make reasonable efforts to provide notice prior to any new terms taking effect (e.g., via a bot command, support server announcement, or updating the "Last Updated" date). What constitutes a material change will be determined at our sole discretion. By continuing to access or use our Service after those revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised terms.
8. Contact Us
If you have any questions about these Terms, please contact us via our Support Server or [Provide another contact method if applicable, e.g., email].
Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how BotSource ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and discloses your information when you use the Sera Discord bot ("Bot", "Service"). We are committed to protecting your privacy.
2. Information We Collect
We collect minimal information necessary for the Bot to function correctly. This may include:
- Discord User IDs: To identify users for commands (e.g., `s!hug @user`).
- Discord Server IDs: To identify servers for configuration settings (e.g., custom prefixes, enabled/disabled commands per server, if applicable).
- Discord Channel IDs: To know where commands are executed or where to send messages (e.g., logging channels, if applicable).
- Command Usage Data: We may collect anonymized data about which commands are used and how often, to improve the Bot and understand usage patterns. This data is not linked to specific User IDs unless necessary for a specific feature (e.g., user profiles, leaderboards - specify if you have these).
- Configuration Settings: Any settings explicitly configured by server administrators for the Bot (e.g., prefix, welcome messages).
- [Explicitly list ANY other data points collected, e.g., message content if your bot reads messages for specific triggers beyond commands, data for user profiles, economy data, etc.]
We explicitly DO NOT collect:
- Your Discord password or email address.
- Personal chat messages unrelated to Bot commands or configured triggers.
- Any personally identifiable information (PII) beyond Discord IDs unless you voluntarily provide it (e.g., in a support context).
3. How We Use Information
The information collected is used solely for the following purposes:
- To provide and operate the Bot's features.
- To respond to user commands and requests.
- To personalize user experience where applicable (e.g., storing user preferences).
- To maintain and improve the Bot's performance and features.
- To provide support and troubleshoot issues.
- To enforce our Terms of Service.
- [Add any other specific uses]
4. Information Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, trade, or rent your information to third parties.
We may share information under the following limited circumstances:
- With Service Providers: We may use third-party hosting providers ([List Provider, e.g., Vercel, Heroku, AWS]) to host the Bot. These providers only process data as necessary to provide the hosting service and are bound by confidentiality obligations.
- For Legal Reasons: We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court or government agency).
- To Protect Rights: We may disclose information if we believe it necessary to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding potential violations of our policies, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the safety of any person, or as evidence in litigation.
5. Data Security
We implement reasonable security measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no internet transmission or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Data Retention
We retain collected data only for as long as necessary to provide the Service and fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy. Server configuration data is retained until the Bot is removed from the server. User-specific data required for commands (like IDs) is retained as needed for functionality. Anonymized usage data may be retained longer for analytical purposes. [Specify retention periods if possible, e.g., logs retained for 30 days]. You can request data deletion as described below.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights regarding your personal data. These may include:
- Right to Access: Request access to the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Right to Erasure (Deletion): Request deletion of your personal data, subject to certain exceptions. [Explain how users can request deletion, e.g., via a command or support server].
- Right to Object/Restrict Processing: Object to or request restriction of our processing of your data under certain conditions.
To exercise these rights, please contact us via our Support Server.
8. Children's Privacy
Our Service is not directed to individuals under the age of 13 (or the relevant age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete such information.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. We may also provide notice through the Bot or support server for significant changes. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
10. Contact Us
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, please contact us via our Support Server or [Provide another contact method if applicable, e.g., email].
